About the print process;
Each card is hand-printed in our home studio in London, UK, on our vintage hot foil press. Using a method of foiling which has been used since 1892 and often seen used by traditional bookbinders. But with our designs, we are hoping to bring that process bang up to date. The foils and dies, which are our own unique designs, we use are made within 20 miles of our studio so by purchasing these cards you are supporting 2 other local businesses in the process.
EEK! But foil isn't eco friendly?
We have found the most eco-conscious foil supplier in the UK. Our process is solvent-free as opposed to the widely available, cheaper toner foiling and our supplier has a zero foil to landfill scheme, meaning we can send our scraps and offcuts back to them and they are processed into SRF – higher quality and more environmentally friendly alternative to fossil fuel(s). And unlike toner foiling, our foil can be recycled on these cards as our transferred foil is so thin, that it dissipates within the re-pulping process.
